Psoriasis

Use modern therapy methods for chronic inflammation.

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammation of the skin, nails and joints.

Psoriasis is a chronic, inflammatory disease of the skin, nails and joints that affects around 2% of all people.

The disease can vary in severity and can have a major impact on the quality of life of sufferers. We use modern therapeutic approaches to ensure that you feel comfortable in your own skin.

The most common form of psoriasis (psoriasis vulgaris) usually affects the scalp, the skin around the elbows or the back of the knees. Clearly defined, red areas of skin form, which are covered with silvery-white scales and are usually accompanied by itching.

In other cases, in addition to the skin, joints (psoriatic arthritis) or fingernails and toenails are also affected by the disease. In addition to skin scales, pustules can also form on the skin (pustular psoriasis).

The inflammation can be triggered by physical and psychological stress, the use of medication or injuries. Stress in particular can exacerbate the symptoms, and in rare cases the disease can spread to the entire body. as the quality of life of those affected is severely impaired, it is important to start treatment as soon as possible.

Your path to healthy skin

Diagnosis

To enable us to treat the disease quickly and precisely, we first analyse your medical history. We then analyse the body region, intensity and extent of the affected skin. It is particularly important to establish whether nails or joints are affected. This has a major influence on the choice of treatment. To differentiate the diagnosis from diseases with similar symptoms, we take a skin sample under local anaesthetic and examine it in our own laboratory.

Treatment

The treatment options for psoriasis vary depending on the affected body region and severity. For example, we often treat with various creams with and without cortisone, supported by highly moisturising body lotions. Irradiation of the skin cells with UV light is another effective therapy. If basic therapeutic measures are not effective enough, special medication is used.

In recent years, very effective methods have been developed with so-called "biologics", which heal the symptoms almost completely. Patients can often live symptom-free, which greatly improves the quality of life of people affected by psoriasis.
