Acne and rosacea are among the most common skin diseases in adolescents and adults.

Both conditions can have different causes, but are easily treatable. Acne and rosacea are often referred to together due to their similar symptoms. However, they differ in their origin and the course of the disease. It is therefore important to differentiate between the two by means of a detailed diagnosis in order to start a targeted treatment.

Rosacea

Rosacea is a chronic inflammation of the facial skin that mainly occurs in adulthood. It often begins with persistent redness caused by dilated blood vessels, followed by pustules and swelling. Unsuitable skin care products that are not customised to the individual skin type can also trigger the disease. Genetic predisposition, stress, diet, certain medications or skin mites can also contribute to the development of rosacea.

Acne

Acne is caused by inflammation of the sebaceous glands, often as a result of hormonal changes, which is why it occurs particularly frequently during puberty.
